Logan loves tae kwon do

Logan had his first exam thingy in tae kwon do. He did super. He is so shy about doing this at home. He has never shown us anything he has learned, so I loved, loved, loved watching him do it.

Like to read...

I like this quote:

He was greatly simple. He was simply great.

This was said about Sam Cowley, the most senior agent in the FBI to ever die in the line of duty. He was Mormon and was shot in a shoot out with "Baby Face Nelson" (or Lester Gillis) in the 1930's war on crime.
I just finished the book Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the birth of the FBI, 1933-34. I really liked this book. The author asserts that the book is not imagined. That it is more like a report taken verbatim from FBI reports, the Karpis transcripts, and the memories of the participants. If you like history check it out. I picked it up in paperback at Costco for super cheap. It helped that Johnny Depp is on the cover--apparently it is a movie too--I havent seen it.

Cancun

T and I had a little weekend getaway in Cancun. Some friends of ours won a trip to Cancun and when we found out we decided we had to go with them. We scheduled it perfectly so that T's mom was here to stay with the kids. It was only a 3 night stay, but it was wonderful. We went to Cancun on our honeymoon, so 9 years later, it was fun to go back.
We took a short afternoon trip to Isla Mujeres and decided the next time we go back we will stay on the island. It was just a little less crowded there.
It was beautiful and so nice to get away.

The dryer broke

The dryer broke. Or at least I think it did. It is no longer heating up. I called Tyler and he didnt make as big a deal out of it as I thought he should. I don't think he understands the depth of the situation or the amount of laundry that gets dried every day. We are talking a family of 6 here. We have to take care of this soon.

Weekend in Austin

We spent a fabulous weekend in Austin, Texas. Thanks so much to our hosts Brandon and Rachel Sommers. On Friday we drove up to Laredo and spent the night there. Then the next day we drove up to the FABULOUS San Marcos outlets where we met Brandon and Rachel. They surprised me with a yummy red velvet cake for my birthday. Then I got to do a little shopping followed by lunch at Johnny Rockets. It was so yummy! A nice change from tacos. LOL!

After more shopping at the outlets and a trip to Costco we made it back to Brandon and Rachel's house to trick or treat.
