Chloe's 7th Birthday

We celebrated Chloe's 7th birthday the Mexican way, well not really. More like the old fashioned way. We planned on having all the kids, which ended up being about 25, play outside on the trampoline and swing set before we did the pinata and cake. However, thanks to my Johnson bad luck, the day of her party turned into the coldest day in January thus far. No, not one of the 80 degree days we have been having, but the coldest day. You know the one, where the fog rolls in and it isnt raining, but it might as well be since the fog is so thick, (if you are not sure what this looks like, check out the pinata pictures down below).

Well, that is what happened. So I spent the morning baking 100 sugar cookies, so that the kids could frost sugar cookies. Thanks to my mother in law for the best sugar cookie recipe ever!!!

We had to kind of wing it with the games, since I hadnt planned anything for this unexpected wintry day. But, the kids loved the games we came up with. These are no fail games that even after the many years these games have been around the kids still enjoy. After cookie frosting, we played the "Tie a ballon to your ankle" game. And, then we played musical chairs. I got my new I-touch out (my awesome Christmas gift from my hubby) and played some music that I liked. The grown ups liked the music, but Chloe's girlfriends wanted to know why I didnt have any HighSchool Musical playing!!!

Next we put our coats on and went outside to hit the Rosita Fresita pinata--that is Strawberry Shortcake in spanish. Then we came back in for cupcakes. The cake is actually made up of 40 cupcakes all frosted as one. It makes for easy serving and clean up.

Next we served burritos. Among the other snacks, everyone got a burrito and a cupcake on their plate. Now, when I say burrito, it is not what you imagine in the states. It is more like a taquito. Either way the kids all loved them except they were a little spicy for the American kids. :) Even though I ordered, "not hot" ones.

The Rosita Fresita cupcake cake. Love it!

Chloe and some of her loot!

Chloe's favorite gift. It is a panda that she has to take care of. The panda get owies that she has to fix. He even cries, takes a bottle and burps. Chloe wants to be a vetenarian (is that how you spell that?) when she grows up, so this gift was perfect. She spent 2 or 3 hours the morning after the party unpacking all of her gifts. Literally taking them out of the boxes. There are so many twist ties and tape these days.

I hate twisties and tape and those plastic bars, they tie the twists and tape too! What a party! Looks like the mexican party was a hit! The cake or should I say cupcake cake was amazing!!! But the more important pressing question is, did the pinata eat any children? Did anyone run away crying that a big giant strawberry shortcake monster was going to eat them????

That's the biggest Pinata ever! It looks bigger than Chloe. Looks like a fun fiesta. Happy Birthday Chloe!
